Alternative Cancer Treatments
If you listen to main stream medicine the only way to fight cancer is through surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation. They will tell you that nothing else has a proven track record. But, have you looked at the track records for the mainstream treatments? They are not 100% either. No one thing will work for everyone. The major difference is that chemotherapy and radiation have a track record of causing more cancer, none of the alternative treatments do. But, you won’t hear about the alternatives from your doctor.
Gonzalez therapy – created by Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez. He developed a program based on nutritional therapies for cancer patients - especially with the use of pancreatic enzymes along with diet and detoxification techniques. He has had some remarkable success.
Gerson therapy – created by Dr. Max Gerson. The Gerson institute has been having success since the 1930’s, but few people have heard about them. This therapy combines organic vegetarian juices and coffee enemas to successfully treat thousands of patients from cancer and other diseases. You can still find them in Mexico and Hungary, although the clinics in the US have been closed. If you look really hard you may still be able to find the 50 medical papers and 3 books describing his treatment methods in detail. His daughter has also recorded numerous audio tapes talking about his program.
Hoxsey therapy – discovered by John Hoxsey in 1840. He combined blood root, along with other herbs with anticancer properties. This treatment was used to successfully treat advanced cancers at 17 Hoxsey Cancer Clinics from 1924 to 1960, before being forced to close and move to Tijuana, Mexico. In 1954, ten physicians evaluated hundreds of case studies and patients, concluding that Hoxsey therapy left patients free from cancer from 6-24 years and in excellent health.
Essiac tea – discovered by Canadian nurse Rene Caisse. She based her blend of herbs on a tea used by Native Americans. Her original formula was destroyed by the Canadian government, but there are similar formulas available, some even using the original name.
The Alkaline Cure - Typically, body pH drops to around 7.0 in the early stages of cancer and the pH continues to decline as the cancer progresses. Cancer cells convert glucose to lactic acid, which lowers pH. The more cancer cells, the more lactic acid and the lower the pH.
Without a doubt, a healthy alkaline diet can help defeat cancer since it provides important cancer-fighting and immune-boosting compounds as well as helps the body eliminate toxins. As the alkaline diet helps kill off cancer cells, the pH is naturally raised due to the alkalinity of the diet as well as lower production of lactic acid by fewer cancer cells.
Ketogenic diet - The premise is that since cancer cells need glucose to thrive, and carbohydrates turn into glucose in your body, then lowering the glucose level in your blood though carb and protein restriction literally starves the cancer cells into oblivion. Additionally, low protein intake tends to minimize the mTOR pathway that accelerates cell proliferation. A ketogenic diet calls for eliminating all but non-starchy vegetable carbohydrates, and replacing them with healthy fats and high-quality protein. Controlling your blood-glucose leptin and insulin levels through diet, exercise and emotional stress relief can be one of the most crucial components to a cancer recovery program. By restricting sugar and providing an alternate fuel, namely fat, you can dramatically reduce the rate of growth of cancer.
Omega 3 therapy - Researchers found that as omega 3 fatty acids are broken down through normal body enzymatic metabolism, the metabolites of these lipids can act to suppress the growth of new blood vessels that are necessary to feed tumor growth. This in effect cuts off the blood supply to tumors, starving them to death.
Gene Therapy – discovered by Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski. The treatment he developed involves a gene-targeted approach using non-toxic peptides and amino acids, known as Antineoplastons. They actually turn off the genes that cause cancer (oncogenes), and turn on or activate tumor suppressor genes—genes that fight cancer. His treatment strategy, which he refers to as “Personalized Gene Targeted Cancer Therapy,” includes mapping the patient's entire cancer genome.
This is not meant to be an exhaustive review of the promising cancer treatments. It is meant as a way to show that there are options outside of what your traditional oncologist will tell you about. If you or a loved one is facing cancer there are options. You may decide to go with what your doctor recommends, but do your homework first, there are other options.
